Most website design companies create websites for
their clients that are either pleasant to look at but too cumbersome to
explore, or a streamlined website that aesthetically looks too bland. Designing
a website should be a marriage of flair and function, wherein the former
entices users to navigate your site, while the latter makes the navigation
experience a smooth, flowing one. As such, here are a couple of tips when
designing your own website.
In the realm of function, your website should be
designed to have little load time in between clicks. If your site contains too
many elements that take too long to load, it’s probably best to remove them
altogether. Longer load times can be a nuisance for users, and if your website
takes too long to load, users might look for information on other sites, which
is something you wouldn’t want to happen.
In terms of aesthetics, your website should
properly exude the kind of business you are running. This means that your site
should contain relevant photos and the correct color schemes; usually sticking
with three colors (related to your brand) would suffice. Where you place the
content on your website matters, as it separates professionally-designed
websites from hokey, amateur ones. Giving your content elbow room in the form
of the right margins, right number of texts, and proper spacing can make for a
smooth-looking, organized website.
